ENQUIRE

Spiros Louis won the first modern Olympic Marathon in Athens in 1896 and became a national hero. He formed a friendship with Edwin Flack, the Australian who won the 800m and 1500m races at those games and who also ran in the Marathon. This work and a sculpture of Flack by Smiley Williams, stand in the main Street of Berwick, Victoria, Australia, the home town of Flack, to commemorate this connection
